Highly accomplished landscape painter & watercolourist. Studied Glasgow School of Art, then in Paris under Bougereau. East exhibited at prestigious ROYAL ACADEMY from 1883. Was elected to ROYAL ACADEMY 1913: President of Royal British Academy 1906: Knighted in 1910; East’s works are in museums worldwide.
